In addition to skipping after the first CD, we noticed some repetitive mechanical background noise during quiet or soft portions of the selection being played. I only bought this because it was the only portable CD player with a headphone jack that I could find on short notice. Didn't care about the AM/FM or the Cassette player. Sorry it didn't work out.
I've had my unit for a little over 3 years. I use it for AM talk radio or plugging in my phone to use my old time radio stations. No super thumping bass to it. It fits on my shelf and super portable and easy on batteries. I do not play CDs all that often but when I do it does a great job.
I have to use reading glasses to read the radio dial. No biggie, it stays on one station mainly.
I am pleased with it and would be upset if something happened to it
The CD player stopped working only after a few hours after first use! I played a CD, turned off to put radio back on, then put CD back on and would not play! You can here it trying to play, but no sound. Waste of money!
For the price it's a pretty good little portable radio, no, it's not the best radio you can buy but that's not what it's trying to be, it's trying to be a small portable AM/FM radio and it's doing it pretty darn well.
It sounds alright, good enough to clearly understand what people are saying and to enjoy music.
The controls are simple and easy to use and the battery life is pretty good too.
overall a great little radio, the only things i would like to see in version 2 are the use of AA battery's instead of AAA, the ability to tuck the FM antenna into the unit so it's flush and maybe a better AM antenna. other than that great job!
My principal purchased this to replace one in my classroom. I put it in my classroom still in the box and used the other one until I had time to swap them. Straight out of the box it never even powered up. I see where some other people have said it told them "no". Lucky you for getting power. Now I have to buy a whole new one because I waited.
my uncle give this item as a gift for my mom, she wants to use that radio with headphones when she plugged them in the in line the screen turned off and the headphones didn't work I want to know what should we do about that what can i buy or do to solve that problem you can answer me in this direction or firstname.lastname@example.org
Thank you for you attention
I wish I could rate this radio and another with even less than 1 Star. I bought this radio, (PRODUCT CODE: R055B), in the event of a storm where a cell phone radio would not work due to no internet connection. I had no reason to use radio until we lost power for almost a week. Out of the package, I get NO signal, nothing but static. Called customer service where the lady repeatedly asked the same questions and said she could and would help. She did nothing but advise that it could be replaced if I paid shipping. I have no idea why she would make this offer if I had problems like I did, why I would think that a replacement would be any better. Anyway, I wish I had read the other reviews before I bought this piece of junk. In addition, be aware that most GPX models are junk. I previously bought a GPX Dual Alarm Clock Radio PRODUCT CODE: C224B, which is IMPOSSIBLE to set and it to has horrible reception. I just want to alert future customers to be aware that GPX radios and Customer Service are absolutely useless and worthless. Find some other brand unless you like paying for lousy quality.
I purchased this mainly for the look and price and honestly did not pay much attention to the brand. I wish I had because this is the 3rd gpx item I've purchased that doesn't work. I had it for 6 months and had never used it. Today I tried to play cd and the only thing I kept getting was no no no it was brand new.called the company and was told to clean the lens even though it's never been used and that i f that doesn't work I can get a replacement for a fee. Their warranties are only 90 days. I know I should have tried it when I got it but like I said it was brand new. So lesson learned I will never purchase another gpx item. There warranties are too short and their products are not very good. And I did clean the lens but still saying no no no
at first no much. Then I plugged in ear phones still nothing. Once I pulled ear phones out it was finally playing but so softly you can barely hear it when it's wide open on volume!!!! Bid disappointment. If I still had the box I'd take it back to the store. Also the so called antennae is absent. Barely able to pick up radio station 15 miles away.
