HOW CAN I CONNECT MY SMARTPHONE TO THIS UNIT TO WATCH VIDEOS?

You can use an HDMI adaptor to connect your phone to this unit. Please contact your smartphone manufacturer’s customer service for the appropriate HDMI adaptor for your phone. Also, you can control/cast content from your IOS/Android device if a streaming stick is connected to the projector and the same Wi-Fi network as your smartphone. 

CAN THIS PROJECTOR CONNECT TO A TABLET/SMARTPHONE THROUGH BLUETOOTH?

You cannot project onscreen images with Bluetooth. Bluetooth technology does not stream video or image, it streams audio. You can use an HDMI adaptor to connect your tablet/smartphone to the projector. Please contact your tablet/smartphone manufacturer’s customer service to find the best HDMI adaptor for your device.

This unit has a Bluetooth transmitter. It can transmit the audio to an external Bluetooth speaker or headphone/earbud. (The PJ300 has built-in full range speakers. However, you can also connect external speakers for more sound options.)

Bluetooth - Pairing to Wireless Speakers or a Sound Bar

NOTE: Bluetooth is OFF by default when the projector first powers ON. Bluetooth can be turned ON or OFF from the OPTIONS Menu.

1. Enable Bluetooth on the Bluetooth receiver (Bluetooth speaker, Bluetooth soundbar etc.) that you would like to connect.

2. Power on the projector and make sure the projector's Bluetooth is ON (see note above). The projector will begin searching for nearby Bluetooth devices to connect to and will automatically initiate pairing. Note: To eliminate confusion, disable Bluetooth on all receivers to which you do not wish to connect.

3. When successfully paired, the Bluetooth receiver should indicate it is connected, usually with a chime or tone. Check the user manual on your Bluetooth receiver for more information.

4. When successfully connected, the projector will display the Bluetooth receiver's (your speaker or sound bar) name on the top right portion of the Main Menu screen, and sound played from the projector will be heard through the Bluetooth receiver.

After initial pairing, the projector and the Bluetooth speakers will stay paired unless unpaired manually by the user or erased due to a reset of either device. If this occurs or neither unit can connect, repeat the above steps.

CAN I CONNECT HEADPHONES OR A SPEAKER TO THIS UNIT VIA AUX CABLE? 

Yes, this unit has a Headphone jack (audio out). You can use the included 3.5mm to RCA stereo cable, or your own 3.5mm Aux cable to connect an external speaker or headphones to the Headphone Jack on the projector. The projector will automatically detect the connection and the audio will be heard from the connected speaker, headphones, etc. 

Note: The yellow video plug on the included 3.5mm to RCA stereo cable will not be needed in this setup and will not need to be connected.

The PJ300 has built-in full range speakers. However, you can also connect external speakers or headphones/earbuds for more sound options.

HOW CAN I CONNECT DEVICES TO THIS PROJECTOR TO WATCH MOVIES, VIDEOS, etc.?

To connect devices to this projector to project images, videos, movies, games etc. follow the guidelines for your preferred connection option below.

HDMI

HDMI offers superior sound and picture quality and is the easiest way to play media from a computer, laptop, DVD/Blu-Ray player, cable box, gaming console, streaming device, or another device with an HDMI output. Requires an HDMI cable (not included) and a device with an HDMI output.

1. Using an HDMI cable, connect the HDMI 1 or 2 input on the projector to the HDMI output on your media player.

2. Set the projector's Source to the connected HDMI input and use the controls on the connected device to select and play media.

Note: You can use an HDMI adaptor to connect your smartphone/tablet to this unit. Please contact your smartphone or tablet manufacturer’s customer service for the appropriate HDMI adaptor for your device.

Audio/Video Input

Requires a 3.5mm to RCA audio/video cable (included). This connection can be used with media players that have RCA stereo audio outputs and composite video output, such as DVD players, cable boxes etc.

1. Connect the 3.5mm to RCA audio/video cable to the AV input on the unit.

2. Connect the 3.5mm to RCA audio/video cable to the RCA stereo audio outputs and composite video output on the media player.

3. Set the projector's Source to AV and use the controls on the connected player to select and play media.

Computer Video (VGA)

Note: VGA connections do not support audio. You will need to use the computer's speakers to hear the audio.

Requires a VGA cable (not included) and a desktop PC or laptop with a VGA output.

1. Using a VGA cable, connect the VGA input on the projector to the VGA output on your computer.

2. Set the projector's Source to PC and use the controls on the computer to select and play media.

MicroSD & USB Storage Devices

Supports MicroSD cards and USB drives up to 32GB. Supports AVI, MOV file formats.

1. Load a USB drive into the USB Port or a MicroSD card to the MicroSD Card Slot.

2. Set the Source to Media Player, then use the Arrow buttons to select "C:Drive" or "D:Drive" (C:Drive is the SD card, D:Drive is the USB).

3. Use the Arrow buttons to select Music/Photo/Movie, then press the OK button to begin playing content from the connected storage device.

TROUBLESHOOTING

MicroSD or USB Drive not recognized/ won’t play

• This unit supports up to 32GB, please make sure that the USB drive or MicroSD card you are using is 32GB or less.
• If a large video file doesn’t work, try compressing the file using an online tool.
• Please check to make sure that the media you are trying to view is one of the following supported formats (AVI, MOV).
• Please see page 17 in the user manual for additional information on using a USB drive or MicroSD card.
• The USB port is NOT for charging or streaming media from a smartphone.

No Audio

• If there is no sound from the projector’s internal speakers when connected via HDMI, please check the connected Blu-Ray/DVD player’s audio settings and make sure it is set to “PCM Stereo” mode.
• If there is no sound when connected via VGA, this is normal as VGA connections do not support audio. You will need to use the computer’s speakers to hear the audio (see page 17 in user manual).
• Please see pages 15-18 in the user manual for additional information on audio connections.

No Picture

• If there is no picture, please make sure that the source you have connected matches the source selected.
• Please make sure the Lens Cap is removed.

Streaming device won’t play audio

• If your streaming device (Firestick, Apple TV, Roku, etc.) won’t play audio, Open the settings menu of your streaming stick, look for the audio settings, and change the audio streaming to “auto.” This will cause the unit to search for the best audio signal for your projector.

A NOTE ON ANDROID PHONE CONNECTION

We are currently redesigning the on-screen QR code in light of user feedback to streamline the process and make connection as simple as possible. This app is not a security risk, but we understand the alert can be alarming. While we are in the process of redesign, the app will not be available on the Google Play Store. After redesign, the app will be recertified, back on the Google Play Store, and no longer produce a security risk message.

Until then, we have some alternative connection methods listed below.

Google Play Store

Open the Google Play Store and search for projector connection apps, like VisionPass. Download and install the app on your phone. At this time, VisionPass is well-tested and recommended. However, download any projector connection app that you prefer.

USB-A to USB-C Connection

Note: Ensure you use a data-capable USB cable. This is required for the video playback app from the Google Play Store to function correctly.

-       - Power on the projector. Then, using a standard USB charging cable, plug the USB-A end into the USB port and the USB-C end into your phone.

-        - On the home screen, use the Arrow buttons to select Wired, then press the OK button to select.

-        - Open the projector connection app downloaded from the Google Play Store. Do not scan the QR code on the screen. Note: Some apps may open automatically with a wired connection.

HDMI to USB-C Connection

Note: Ensure your phone supports DP (DisplayPort) video output (typically called DP Alt Mode) for this to work. Please verify this feature in your phone’s specifications.

-        - Power on the projector. Then, using an HDMI adapter cable, plug the HDMI end into the HDMI port and the USB-C end into your phone.

-        - Use the Arrow buttons to highlight the HDMI icon, then press the OK button to select the HDMI icon.

-        - Start playing media from your phone. A QR code should not appear on the screen
